County Attorney
The Santa Cruz County Attorney's Office prosecutes all felony and juvenile offenses, which occur in the county and misdemeanor offenses, which occur in the unincorporated areas of the county.

The Santa Cruz County Attorney provides legal advice to the County Board of Supervisors and all the County Departments. In addition, the County Attorney represents school districts and fire districts within the county. The office provides legal services for mental health commitments, uncontested adoptions, and guardianships and conservator ships on behalf of the Public Fiduciary.

The Santa Cruz County Attorney's Office maintains a bad check program, which helps each person who experiences a bad check loss to recover their money and to provide an appropriate punishment for the bad check writer.

The Victim Services/Compensation Program is part of the Santa Cruz County Attorney's Office. Its main goal is to help victims of crime. The services include crisis intervention, moral support, information and referral to resources within the community, transportation, food, counseling and compensation funds. Staff and volunteers are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For on scene assistance, request law enforcement to call out Victim Services personnel. All other requests may be directed to the County Attorney's Office at the address below.
